In recent months HP print technology has started focusing more on the manufacturing of 3D printers and lately the printing giant has announced a 3D printer reseller program too.
Recruiting partners in the segment the company is seeking the adoption of 3D printers, replacing the injection molding. It will be revolutionary and be going beyond the manufacturing of just replacement parts by the new technology printer.
HP 3D Printing business unit president Steve Nigro said until now the 3D printers were used just in the creation of a prototype of a product, but the next generation 3D printers will indulge in the manufacturing of products in volume. It will be much faster too.
Announcing at the Rapid + TCT 2017 event, HP said the reseller program has 30 partners and most of them are new to their channel as the opportunities from HP print 3D technology have gone beyond traditional IT.
The company has also come up with HP Partner First 3D Printing Specialization program to enable good global network of manufacturing service bureaus. The partners will also have access to several new HP 3D Printing Reference and Experience Centers catered across Europe and United States.
Talking further about the 3D technology in HP print service, Nigro added it democratizes manufacturing and by 2021 the market is expected to be valued at $18 billion with annual growth of 30 percent.
For about past one decade the 3D printing technology was only used to limited needs in manufacturing, but the focus will now be shifted to employing it in large-scale and it will be creating unique opportunities for channel partners.
President of Wohlers and Associates, Terry Wohlers, said the new segment of HP print’s 3D technology will be expanding the scope of the channel partner’s services. Until now it has been used for prototyping quantities, but in future, the technology will be used for production quantities.
Wohlers and Associates is a research company specializing in 3D printers and manufacturing.
